Reading Passage

Last month I often arrived at school tired and late. I usually woke up at the last minute, ate nothing, and ran to the bus stop. In class I felt sleepy and I couldn’t listen well. My mum said I needed a better morning routine, so I decided to change it.

Now I set my alarm for 6:45 and put my phone on the other side of the room. When it rings, I have to stand up to turn it off. After that I open the window for a minute and drink a glass of water. It helps me wake up, especially in winter when it is still dark outside.

Then I get dressed and make a quick breakfast. I usually eat yoghurt with fruit, or toast with cheese. On busy days I take a banana. I also prepare my school bag the night before, so I don’t waste time looking for my keys or homework in the morning.

At 7:25 I leave home and walk to the bus stop. I like walking because it is quiet and I can think about my day. Sometimes I meet my friend Ali and we talk on the way. We often arrive early, so we can sit together before lessons start.

This new routine is simple, but it makes a big difference. I feel more awake, I don’t forget things, and my first lesson is easier. I still have mornings when I feel lazy, but I know that small habits can help me have a better day.
