Reading Passage

Last Monday, Mina started at Green Park School. She was nervous because she did not know anyone there. Her old school was in another town, so everything felt new. She arrived early and stood near the main door with her bag, looking for her classroom.

A teacher called Mr Hall smiled and asked if she needed help. He showed her a map of the school and walked with her to Class 8B. The classroom was bright, and there were posters about animals and sports on the walls. Mina sat near the window and tried to listen carefully.

At break time, Mina ate her sandwich outside. Two girls, Lucy and Farah, sat next to her and asked simple questions: where she lived, what music she liked, and if she played any sports. Mina told them she liked pop songs and she often rode her bike after school. The girls were friendly, and Mina began to feel less worried.

On Wednesday, Mina saw a notice about after-school clubs. There was a cooking club, a chess club, and a drama club. Mina chose the cooking club because she wanted to learn easy meals. In the first lesson, they made fruit salad and talked about their favourite food. Mina laughed a lot, and she learned some new words in English too.

By Friday, Mina knew the way to all her lessons. She still missed her old friends, but she was happy about her new ones. She decided to join the cooking club every week and maybe try drama next month. Mina understood that a new place can feel scary, but small steps can make it better.
