Four people talk about working from home

Working from home: benefits, problems and advice

Marta

When my company first suggested working from home twice a week, I thought it would be a disaster. Surprisingly, it’s been one of the best changes for my routine. I save nearly an hour a day on commuting, and I use that time to go for a short run before logging on. That said, I’ve had to be strict with myself. If I don’t plan my tasks in the morning, I end up answering messages all day and achieving very little. I also miss the quick chats in the office, so I organise a short video call with my team on Mondays just to catch up. My biggest recommendation is to set clear boundaries: I stop at 6 p.m., even if I’m tempted to ‘just finish one more thing’. Otherwise, the day never really ends.
