Choice of tasks

Write 280-320 words in an appropriate style.

Choose a task

You recently applied for a grant from your local council to support a community project you coordinate. The council has written to say they are unwilling to fund it, claiming that the project is ‘too limited in impact’ and that ‘existing services already cover the need’. You believe this decision is based on misunderstandings. Write a letter to the head of the council’s community funding committee. In your letter, you should: - challenge the council’s reasons for refusing the grant, using clear evidence and examples - explain the wider benefits and long-term value of your project for different groups in the community - propose a realistic compromise (e.g. revised budget, partnership, pilot scheme, evaluation plan) that addresses their concerns Write your letter in 280–320 words.
