IELTS Speaking test with an AI examiner
Take full Speaking tests, Parts 1 to 3, out loud with an AI examiner. After each one, see your estimated band for each criterion and the exact answers where you lost points, with a better way to say them.
Pro: 20 speaking tests a month, plus every practice test, for $8.00/month.
Scores are estimated bands for practice, not official IELTS scores.
How it works
Step 1
Sign in and start
Sign in, allow your microphone and press start. Every account gets 1 free test to try it.
Step 2
Talk to the examiner
An AI examiner asks the questions out loud and listens to your answers, with the real timings for each part.
Step 3
Get your estimated band
About a minute after the test ends you see a band for each of the four criteria, an overall band, and where you lost points.
The three parts of the test
Part 1
4 to 5 minutes
Questions about you and familiar topics: your home, work or studies, hobbies and daily life.
Part 2
3 to 4 minutes
A cue card with a topic. You get 1 minute to prepare and make notes, then speak for 1 to 2 minutes.
Part 3
4 to 5 minutes
A discussion of wider questions linked to your Part 2 topic. This is where higher bands are won or lost.
What your results look like
An overall band, a band and descriptor for each of the four IELTS criteria, and every point you lost, with your own words, a better version and a button to hear that answer again.

Questions
Is the IELTS Speaking test free?
Every account gets 1 free test, a full speaking test with band scores, no card needed. To keep practising, Pro includes 20 speaking tests a month, plus every practice test on the site.
Is the band score official?
No. It is an estimated band from an AI grader that uses the public IELTS Speaking band descriptors. Only an IELTS test centre can give you an official score. Use the estimate to see where you stand and what to work on.
How is my speaking scored?
Lexical Resource and Grammatical Range and Accuracy are scored from a transcript of your answers. Fluency and Coherence and Pronunciation are estimated by an AI model that listens to a sample of your recorded answers, with the whole transcript for coherence. The overall band is the average of the four, rounded the way IELTS rounds it.
What happens to my recordings?
Your answers are recorded in your own browser so you can play them back on the results page. A short sample is sent for fluency and pronunciation scoring and is not stored after. We keep the written transcript and your scores.
What do I need?
A computer or phone with a microphone, a quiet room and about 15 minutes. Headphones help the examiner hear you clearly.
Is it the same as the real IELTS Speaking test?
It follows the same three parts, timings and question types as the IELTS Speaking test for Academic and General Training. The examiner is an AI, so it can sound different from a person, and it will not chat beyond the test script.
Ready to practise?
Find a quiet room, plug in your headphones and start.
